An aspiring young model died after riding her brand new motorbike through a red light and was slammed into by a suspected drink-driver.
Kim Yeui-Hyun, 19, is said to have been thrown some 30 feet from her bike and died upon impact, with her motorcycle helmet having flown off during the crash in North Taiwan’s Taoyuan City.
The teenager, who had just started university, was riding her new Kymco Quannon 150 back home at 11.50pm when the drink-driving suspect, Chen Bo-chi, slammed into her.
Dashcam footage shows Chen, 36, attempting a left turn when he slams into Kim’s bike, with both vehicles sustaining heavy damage.
Paramedics pronounced Kim dead at the scene, having suffered fatal head trauma.
Chen was found to be slightly over the legal alcohol limit and was detained shortly after.
Taiwanese modelling agency Eelin, who hosted a pageant with Kim in it this year, said they were ‘saddened by her loss’.
Police said Chen would be charged with dangerous driving as well as negligent manslaughter.
The investigation continues.
