Ask Kitty Schaub, a photographer, what it’s like to take photos of a newborn, and she’ll tell you that it’s complicated (sometimes things just go comically wrong, right?). Those impossibly cute swaddled-baby-in-a-basket photo shoots can take anywhere from two to four hours.
Photographing newborn kittens, however, is a piece of catnip. When Schaub’s 5-year-old-daughter, Amelie, adopted Luna, a tiny black kitten, the photographer decided to commemorate the experience by giving newborn animal shoots a try.
During the kitten’s “nap” (she sleeps up to 20 hours a day!) Schaub swaddled Luna in cozy cotton and lace and placed the littlest headbands on her head. The resulting photos of Luna propped up on fluffy pillows, mostly sound asleep, are honestly too sweet for words. Truly.
Here is Luna holding the world’s tiniest teddy bear.
“The photo shoot was quick, around five minutes,” Schaub told HouseBeautiful.com “I picked Luna up while she was sleeping and she didn’t even wake up.”
If only human babies could sleep so soundly! The Internet is just as enamored with Schaub’s photos as we are — after sharing them on Facebook, her post has over 62,000 shares. Beyond the contagiously cute factor, the shoot also serves as a sweet memory for Amelie, since she and Luna are “inseparable,” said her mom.
Amelie may be a new pet owner, but with photos like these, she might as well be a big sister. Seriously, the Schaubs are about to have the sweetest family photo wall ever.
